2008 - Souper Bowl of Caring Mission Statement – Utilizing Super Bowl weekend to mobilize youth to fight hunger and poverty in their local communities. http://www.souperbowl.org
|
This is a youth activity we all can/need to support!! On or before
February 3, the youth will collect food for the Frederick Rescue
Mission. They will go to the Mission to bring food and/or serve
food to the Mission Community. This will kick off an ongoing
effort for tithing for our youth. Let's support their efforts!

We exist to meet the needs of hurting and broken people while inviting them into the abundant life Christ offers to all. http://www.therescuemission.org/
Frederick Rescue Mission is in need of food |
2008
report – We have continued to keep the bushel baskets available at
the doors to the church! Thank you all for your awareness and
dedicated support of this need for food in our community! Please
know that when the baskets get full… we will get the food to the food
bank! 2007 report – Over the summer when the pantry was empty, the Mission was unable to assist those in the community that they serve. We rose to the call for help and provided a few trunk loads of non-perishable food. Thank you all for caring and sharing! |

- CROP Walk What is a CROP Hunger Walk? It is neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world. Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting. Established, growing and serving since the 1960’s! http://www.churchworldservice.org/CROP/ |
We were represented last year by walkers - Maria Vanegas, Terry and
Kenny Meek. This year, we would love to see the youth challenge
the adults and double our pledges! Tom Bugler, Sandy Boyer, Steve
& Wendy Poole assisted with water distribution for the walkers.

Ongoing Builds - There are plans in place for building in Brunswick,
Middlestown, Emmitsburg and on 7th Street in 2008!!
The link above for Frederick Habitat will be the best resource for
volunteer opportunities! If you would like, you can receive
e-mails from the Volunteer Coordinator for “requests for volunteers!” Women Build - Starting on Mother’s Day weekend, 2008, the Women Build Project will start! Please see the link above for details… and for ‘up to the minute’ requests for volunteers for this project! The goal is to have this home completed in time for the family to celebrate Thanksgiving (or perhaps Halloween), 2008, in their new home! We have a strong interest in this project – and we look forward to working elbow to elbow to learn and refine skills – and to assist with supporting the builders! To make this deadline work, we will have to maintain the high energy and participation of the women involved!! Thank you for considering this – and we hope to see you there! http://www.frederickwomenbuild.com/

The HfHFC - Church Relations Committee,
is developing a steering committee for a home building project that will incorporate the participation of houses of worship of every denomination and culture. For now… let’s call it an “Interfaith Build” – but let’s not mistake it as part of the Interfaith Housing Alliance!! A good and valuable organization… but not the one we are speaking of! We will let you know when we have volunteer opportunities for this build! |
2007
report – We began supporting the Church Relations Committee and
working on projects to be released in upcoming years. Supporting
Habitat, and the efforts of the committee, are so well aligned with
Unity principles, the fit feels perfect. |
